Founded in 1882, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is the seventh oldest zoo in the United States. But that's not all. It's not just one of the oldest zoos in the nation, it also happens to be one of the best. The zoo is home to thousands of animals representing seven continents. It has an outdoor area covering 66 hectares of outdoor exhibits and two acres of indoor exhibits making it a great place to visit any time of year. Exhibits include an Australian Adventure featuring koalas, snakes, kangaroos and wallabies, and a Primate Cat And Aquatics Building full of gorillas, lungfish, cheetahs and others. One of the zoo's most popular exhibits is the Rainforest, an indoor area that elegantly presents the delicate animal and plant life of the vanishing rainforests. With the largest collection of primates in North America, 3000 other animals, and 600 different species the Metroparks zoo is chock full of fun and excitement. In addition, the zoo is a garden and is dotted throughout with lessons about how plants, animals and humans all interrelate. Enjoy it on foot or take advantage of one of the zoos complimentary zootrams. Either way it's going to be a wild time, and when you need a break there's plenty of places to rest and have a picnic. A great place for families, young couples or retirees. You're sure to enjoy yourself at the Metroparks Zoo. |
