Legend has it that the term 'rock and roll' was coined by a Cleveland disc jockey in 1951 and it is largely for this reason that Cleveland has become home to the only institution completely dedicated to that very thing. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is, for many visitors, the main reason to come to Cleveland. Considering the fact that it has a permanent collection drawing from some of the most impressive and iconic rock and roll artifacts and a wide-ranging roster of on-going and temporary exhibits, who can blame them? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum honours its popular and influential performers, producers, songwriters and disc jockeys through state of the art exhibits and amazing memorabilia. The museum is host to exhibits year round, all of which are not only made up of pieces from the Museum's private collection but also augmented by thousands of artifacts and items on loan from artists and collectors from around the world. In addition to these items, the Museum's exhibits utilize film, video, interactive kiosks and, of course, music all of which is used to explore nearly all aspects of rock and roll – from the roots of the genre in blues and country music to the many different new forms that have been born out of rock and roll. Make sure not to miss the computerised jukebox that contains close to every song of every performer inductee. |
