Originally formed based on the idea that an Orchestra should stand for the traditions of artistic excellence, educational outreach, and community service the Cleveland Orchestra has long been considered one of America's great orchestras. Whether in concerts at home in Severance Hall, at Blossom, on tour, in radio and television broadcasts, or in its critically-admired discography, The Cleveland Orchestra continues to set standards of performing excellence and imaginative programming that serve as models for audiences and performers alike. So it's obviously worth your time to come and take a listen. Concerts are held year round in the beautiful and newly renovated Severance Hall, one of the first music halls to be equipped to record and broadcast live orchestral performances. So no matter when you decide to visit Cleveland, make sure an evening of soaring classical music fits into your itinerary. Or if you don't have the time for a concert at least make an effort to take a tour of the music hall, located at University Circle. After a $36-million renovation and expansion Severance Hall has been called one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world. Come and see its 2,000-seat main concert hall, the architecturally stunning Grand Foyer, the spacious lobbies and galleries and afterwards enjoy a meal in the restaurant overlooking the Fine Arts Garden and Wade Lagoon. |
